In this quick tip I go over how to customize what tab your Corel Paintshop Pro opens into.  By default  when you click on the PSP icon on your computer, the program will automatically open up to the MANAGE tab.
You can change this if you want to.  It is really simple.

Steps:

  • Open up Corel PSP and click on the EDIT TAB
  • Point your mouse near the text COREL PAINTSHOP PRO and right-click.  You will see this menu appear:
  • Click on the GENERAL PROGRAM PREFERENCES option.
  • After you click on that you will see the PREFERENCES module appear.
  • Then click on the DEFAULT LAUNCH WORKSPACE text and you will see your options.  Click on the one you want then select OK and you are done!  It is that simple!

I have a video showing you how to go about doing this.  I also have an extra tip video going over my workflow when starting an editing project.  I use windows 7 and windows 8.  It will give you some good ideas on utilizing your work habits in the editing room!  Any questions?  Leave them down in the comment section below!

Here is a video with some extra tips on workflow.

  1. Chris: Thanks for your below post. I have a question regarding RAW files. When I use my Sony’s  Image Data Converter to view and edit RAWfiles, the photos look much, much better than with PSP: why? What can I do with PSP to match the quality of RAW files as in Sony’s own Image Data Converter? RAJ

  2. Chris: Because PSP RAW converter is not good, you said you edit RAW files in another program and import them to PSP for further image manipulation. In what file format do you save the RAW files before importing them to PSP? Do you save these files in TIFF, or do you have a better idea?

    1. Hey Raj,
I use lightroom as my converter then I bring the photo into Corel as a TIFF file. You can check out my video here on how to do this. http://youtu.be/o8YaonQoCPU

If you are not using lightroom I would recommend saving the file from your chosen RAW edit software as a TIFF file then you can open it up in Corel PSP without having any loss of information from the photograph. TIFF and RAW files hold way more info then a JPEG(jpegs compress the information) and allow for easier manipulation, adjustments and color grading. I hope that answers your question. Let me know if I can help any other way. Thanks Raj!
